Qualities and characteristics best defining the school |
At ACS we have created a community of learners who feel a sense of belonging. We offer a personalized education, which prepares our culturally diverse student body for a life-long commitment to learning, service and global citizenship. The faculty at ACS supports each student in their quest for academic excellence, artistic and athletic expression and international understanding. Our challenging and diverse programs provide our students with an excellent American education that has a global perspective. The ACS community is unified around several core values: curiosity, compassion, courage and integrity. |
Teaching approach of the school |
We have very talented students at ACS and we nurture excellence from that talent by providing rich experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. We create experiences for students to grow academically. Our classes and programs are designed to allow students to work cooperatively, problem-solve and apply new learning. Faculty and staff work diligently to awaken students' curiosity, equip our students with the skills necessary to succeed in an increasingly complex and interdependent world, and ensure that our students gain an appreciation of the great intellectual, aesthetic and musical traditions that have withstood the test of time. As importantly, if we expect students to reach their scholastic and human potential, we must not lose sight of their physical, emotional, and spiritual well being. A school must also be full of laughter, a refuge from anger and intimidation, and a place where young people want to spend the majority of their time. |
