Use of technology in the classroom |
ICS boasts excellent technology facilities and it is constantly aiming to improve them. ICS has a dedicated Makerspace and Roboitcs Lab, located in its new building, which is used by students in all grades. Individual classrooms are all equipped with technology tools. All elementary classrooms have desktop computers as well as SmartBoards, document cameras, printers, etc. Secondary classrooms each have a projectors, and shared access to document cameras and networked printers. Some secondary classrooms have SmartBoards and ICS is expanding their use throughout the school. ICS has shared resources that are used throughout the school: several sets of laptops and iPads which classes can check out, as well as other resources (cameras, projectors, etc.) that can be checked out by teachers. ICS' campus-wide network gives all students and teachers access to the internet, and ICS has a dedicated guest network for parents and community members. |

Learning Support can provide an appropriate education for most students, including non-native English speakers, students with mild to moderate learning disabilities and highly capable students. However, because of the limitations of the local professional support network, ICS is not able to serve the educational needs of those students with more serious mental, physical, emotional or learning disabilities. The campus is also not handicapped accessible. |

ICS encourages families to plan your transition to Addis to allow your children to start school at the beginning of the school year in August. The beginning of the second semester in January is a good alternative. However, ICS understands that this is not always possible. |

ICS does not provide a bus service. Many families live in the Old Airport neighborhood and drive their children to school, or hire a driver. Some families may walk to school and older students sometimes ride their bicycles to school. |

ICS does not have a school uniform. Students in middle and high school (grades 6-12) are expected to follow the ICS dress code. Students in grades 6-10 must purchase ICS shorts and a t-shirt for their physical education (PE) classes. |
