Welcome to International School Bangkok ISB, the premier international school in Thailand and a leading school in Asia.
Proudly independent and not-for-profit, we offer an accredited (US and IB ), inclusive and challenging international curriculum guided by leading educational research and global best practice, designed to allow students to define, for themselves, who they are and where they want to go. Very few schools in the world can offer this level of genuinely personalized education - preparing students at all levels to become leaders in meeting the ever-changing needs of the world and equip them with the knowledge and skills to become caring global citizens.
ISB offers an inclusive, challenging international curriculum that is US-accredited, International Baccalaureate authorized and independent. Learning at ISB is informed by leading educational research and global best practice, incorporated into US, IB, and AP Capstone. We understand the nature of international families and ensure that our students’ learning is transferable and meaningful. No matter how long they are with us, we ensure that students are not only set up for success, but with confidence, integrity, respect, responsibility and commitment - in other words, true Panther Spirit.

Use of technology in the classroom
|
In ISB School, technology and information literacy are integrated into units of study and into everyday classroom lessons. Teachers and students have access to a library media lab and mobile laptop/iPad carts with wireless internet connection. Students and teachers utilize a wide array of software and digital peripherals, which complement our hardware resources. Skills are taught independently and are integrated into learning throughout each unit of study.
A Technology Learning Coach, and a Teacher Librarian provide a variety of teacher and student learning support with the integration of ideas, curricular links, resources, in-class support and specific professional development opportunities. This integrated model sees technology as a tool to enhance teaching and learning, and not as a discrete subject to be taught once a cycle.

Student support
Dedicated staff/programs for students with special learning needs

ISB provides support for a managed number of students with mild to moderate learning needs, and are in the early stages of planning a program for students with intensive needs (e.g. developmental and intellectual disabilities). Unfortunately ISB is not able to meet the needs of students with moderate or severe emotional/behavioral disabilities.
|
Learning support offered

ISB believes that students with learning needs learn best when they are educated with typically developing peers to the maximum extent possible. ISB is able to meet with needs of most students in the regular classroom with differentiated instruction through accommodations and consultation. Some students may receive additional support in class through
small group instruction,
point-of-performance support or
co-teaching.
Students who require a higher level of support may attend a small group learning support class to work on the individualized learning goals on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

About the school
Qualities and characteristics best defining the school
|
Widely recognized as one of the premier international schools in the world, International School Bangkok (ISB) has been providing quality education since 1951 to expatriates representing more than 60 countries.
Conveniently located just outside the heart of the city, ISB’s 15 hectare campus is nestled in a beautiful community called Nichada Thani where children can walk or ride their bicycle to school along tree-lined paths.

Teaching approach of the school
|
ISB’s believes learning is a process in which each student discovers and constructs meaning from information and experience. The individual needs, background, and development level of each student serve as the starting point for all school learning activities. In the classroom, the teacher functions more in a guiding, supportive role than in the role of the disseminator of information. Opportunities for student choice, self-direction, and responsibility are plentiful. Students learn interpersonal skills and the importance of community; they are valued and accepted, and, in return, learn to value and accept others. Assessment is formative, and, along with appraisal by the teacher, includes self and peer evaluation. Positive feedback and encouragement are essential components of all Middle School assessment. We believe that this student-centered approach is the best way to fulfill ISB’s Mission to inspire students to:
Achieve their academic potential
Be passionate, reflective learners,
Become caring, global citizens
Lead healthy, active, balanced lives
|
Early Childhood and Elementary School - 3-5 years old and Grades 1-5
In Early Childhood and Elementary School, ISB provides a challenging learning environment which is child-centered, well-balanced and aims to develop the whole child.
Our school is a center of inquiry, creativity and joyful learning, with students from around 60 countries coming together to learn, to dream and to grow.
Middle School - Grades 6-8
Moving up to the Middle School, our belief is that learners at this age need a combination of care, challenge, choice, and opportunity to help them succeed. Through a thoughtful and caring approach to students’ social emotional learning, our teachers, counselors, and administrators guide students through this stage of their learning and growth.
Our curriculum provides students with a globally-minded curriculum and instruction that meets students at their level of need.
High School - Grades 9-12
In the High School, students are offered a university pathway that suits them best, with the choice of a High School Personal Choice Diploma, the IB Diploma and several rigorous AP courses.
The High School is a welcoming community of lifelong learners with a strong sense of school spirit and pride. We provide opportunities for our learners to engage and participate in the arts, athletics and a huge range of activities. We ask our learners to challenge and extend themselves in their academic pursuits and strive for balance in their busy lives.
