Yes - Our English Language Development Program recognizes that all students represent multiple levels of proficiency in the English language. RIS offers a combination of sheltered classes, study support classes, and push-in support for subject areas. The Special Education Program is designed to take into account the wide diversity of individual characteristics, interests, abilities, and learning needs. It will include parents, teachers, counsellors, and care givers at every stage and in all plans that are made to meet the student's educational needs. Equality of opportunity for all students is essential and it is important that students with special needs have the opportunity to learn along side their peers. For this reason, special education needs of students will normally be met in the mainstream classroom setting. |
