Yes - Our English Language Development Program recognizes that all students represent multiple levels of proficiency in the English language. RIS offers a combination of sheltered classes, study support classes, and push-in support for subject areas. The Special Education Program is designed to take into account the wide diversity of individual characteristics, interests, abilities, and learning needs. It will include parents, teachers, counsellors, and care givers at every stage and in all plans that are made to meet the student's educational needs. Equality of opportunity for all students is essential and it is important that students with special needs have the opportunity to learn along side their peers. For this reason, special education needs of students will normally be met in the mainstream classroom setting.

We offer an Extended Day Program as well as the International Baccalaureate Diploma and Advanced Placement track. Students may follow a full IB diploma or may choose to select specific courses from both IB and AP that best suit their needs. They may also follow an enriched American curriculum.

There are English, mathematics, and possibly a modern language placement test. Students applying for Pre-school, Pre-K, Kindergarten and Grade 1 will be observed in small group settings by the Elementary Counselor and the school psychologist.

All students are required to take Physical Education. When students enter High School they may select among a series of sports to comprise the PE credits needed to meet our graduation requirement. Courses include Basketball, Football, Aquatics, Badminton, Volleyball, Softball, Strength Training, Yoga, etc.
