Yes - Our English Language Development Program recognizes that all students represent multiple levels of proficiency in the English language. RIS offers a combination of sheltered classes, study support classes, and push-in support for subject areas. Daily study support is also offered to help students keep pace with their core subjects and to provide the opportunity to review and practice the basic components of the English language.

Our students excel in examinations. We average 100 points higher than US students on the SAT and 2 of our IB Diploma students scored a perfect score this year when there were only 160 perfect scores worldwide. Our students are consistently offered entrance into top universities around the world.

Yes. Our Special Needs Program is overseen by our Director of Student Services, one of our school psychologists.

Learning support offered

The Special Education Program is designed to take into account the wide diversity of individual characteristics, interests, abilities, and learning needs. It will include parents, teachers, counsellors, and care givers at every stage and in all plans that are made to meet the student's educational needs. Equality of opportunity for all students is essential and it is important that students with special needs have the opportunity to learn along side their peers. For this reason, special education needs of students will normally be met in the mainstream classroom setting.

The school supports gifted, able and talented students

We offer an Extended Day Program as well as the International Baccalaureate Diploma and Advanced Placement track. Students may follow a full IB diploma or may choose to select specific courses from both IB and AP that best suit their needs. They may also follow an enriched American curriculum.

There are English, mathematics, and possibly a modern language placement test. Students applying for Pre-school, Pre-K, Kindergarten and Grade 1 will be observed in small group settings by the Elementary Counselor and the school psychologist.

We offer a diverse array of Extended Day Programs, Athletic programs (68 teams) and Artistic programs through our Fine Arts department, as well as many service oriented clubs and activities.

Sports activities included

All students are required to take Physical Education. When students enter High School they may select among a series of sports to comprise the PE credits needed to meet our graduation requirement. Courses include Basketball, Football, Aquatics, Badminton, Volleyball, Softball, Strength Training, Yoga, etc.
