Our family are non-native mandarin speakers (however, my husband speaks mandarin) we chose 3e to because it provided the language exposure and as a result our two children are bilingual. They have attended 3e from 2020-2022 (Nursery, YPK, OPK and half a semester of kindergarten).
Teachers.
All of our children’s teachers (English & Chinese) have been very attentive towards their learning journey and raise points of concern when necessary. The teachers also respond to our questions via email promptly or phone call (if it is urgent). When communicating with the Chinese teachers I generally leave that to my husband, only because I do not have the language skill. The times that I have communicated with them, it is mostly via email. We were fortunate enough for our oldest child to have the same English teacher for YPK & OPK, and because this, we were able to build a relationship with this teacher. It was comforting knowing that our child was with someone that cares about each child’s education (physically, mentally and emotionally). One additional positive note that the teachers do, is sending parents photos and videos of the children’s day/week when they are in class, so parents can see how and what they are learning (as for our family, we view these photos and continue these conversations at home).
Academics.
Our personal views on what our children learn at study in these early years are relaxed. Our views are that during the early years, social skills and communication are extremely important (more so than academics). However, we are happy with where our children are academically in both languages.
Facilities.
The facilities of the school are fantastic. The children’s classrooms, inside the buildings, outside play area and school bus are maintained to a high standard and very clean.
School atmosphere.
For a non-native speaker, at first the school atmosphere seemed to little bit daunting. During most of our time at 3e, the school has had an English-speaking co-principle. This meant an English-speaking person was always available to talk with, assisting with communication means that nothing that is being lost in translation or lost in cultural differences. Our two children have made friends very quickly within each of their classes, which has allowed for us as parents to feel as though we belong to a community.
Administration and Interaction with the School.
Our children attended 3e during the worst times of COVID-19 pandemic; I acknowledge the school's efforts in keeping parents updated with information and the importance of having an English-speaking co-principle helped to convey these messages.
The admin team are very prompt with communicating with parents and were flexible when arranging transportation for our second child during the transitioning period.
Our family highly recommends 3e.

all of our 3 kids start in 3e from either nursery (2 yr) or YPK (3 yr), we have been grateful to 3e, especially to those fabulous teachers, we can always count on them, not only on academic topics but also on social / psychology concerns which I think are not so common among teachers in China (no matter public schools or int’l schools.
Its outstanding dual immersion bilingual curriculum is second to none, so do the 3e spirit: creative and collaborative.

As both a teacher at 3e and a parent of an elementary student attending 3e, I was given a unique opportunity to experience the school from a dual perspective. The elementary program at 3e International School offered my daughter a multifaceted approach to learning and the freedom to explore the foundations of discovery in a supporting and nurturing environment. This approach to education is one that is at the heart of my own teaching philosophy, I greatly enjoyed my time teaching at 3e and would highly recommend this genuine learning experience to families searching for a environment of educational support, cultural awareness, and global ingenuity.

In my opinion, 3e is the number one choice for children to truly become fluently bilingual in English and Chinese. I am continually impressed by the language acquisition my children have achieved, and their strong confidence and insatiable curiosity, reflective of 3e’s core foundations to explore-experiment-express.
The welcoming family atmosphere ensures they love coming to school each day and assures parents that each child will be given the attention and support needed to achieve their best.
