All classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards which teachers and students can use for research and to run applications. In addition to this, each student has access to a laptop. Through project based IT lessons, students learn to write texts, research, calculate and prepare presentations as well as learning how to use media responsibly and safe.

Each child has his or her own interests and abilities. For this reason, the Phorms concept is aligned towards the individual development of each child. A high care ratio, all-day teaching, inter-disciplinary team and project work, creative learning methods and exciting afternoon activities provide the scope for individual talents to develop.

In addition to this, the teachers foster and support individual children by providing regular small-group teaching within lessons. This is intended to support children who need to catch up in a core subject such as English, reading, writing or arithmetic. The assistance provided to children with learning difficulties also enriches teaching within the class community by delivering better integration and motivation for all children.

Interview, trial days, test

Nursery: parent interview.

Primary school: trial days and testing. During the testing for grade 1, the children solve age-appropriate tasks and play with other children of the same age whilst being supervised by some of the year 1 teachers. If applying for a school place in a higher grade, the child will visit the respective class for three to five trial days and participate in the regular school day. Parallel to the trial days the parents have an interview with the head of primary school about the family, the aims for their child and a possible cooperation with the school.

Secondary school: PBM invites the child for an admission test in the key subjects (English, Math, German) and an interview with the head of secondary school and/or PBM organizes trial days in the respective class.

Phorms Berlin Mitte is a bilingual private school where the students are taught in German and English using the immersion method.

PBM teaches children and young people to understand the world in all its cultural and linguistic diversity, local characteristics and global contexts.

The children learn the two languages according to the so-called immersion method. Each pedagogue speaks exclusively in his or her native language of either English or German.
