Our private school offers a bilingual community in German and English for children and young people from nursery and primary school to secondary school. We are housed in an attractive red-brick building in central Berlin which dates from the late 19th century. Directly opposite our building is Gartenplatz square which provides a green area, a playground and a soccer field. We make use of this valuable space whenever possible to play, relax or do open-air teaching.
We seek to maintain a cosmopolitan, warm and welcoming environment. Our children at the nursery, educators, students, teachers and parents very much enjoy the open and friendly atmosphere we have created.

BBIS Berlin Brandenburg International School
BBIS Berlin Brandenburg International School is a leading IB World Day and Boarding School (Grade 9-12), based in the capital region of Berlin, Germany.
Offering three IB programmes, we inspire a lifelong love of learning and excellence in a welcoming, supportive environment. Small class sizes, an engaging curriculum, an extensive extracurricular programme and incredible teachers combine to help our students realise their full potential.
NURTURING COMPASSIONATE GLOBAL CITIZENS
While English is our language of instruction, BBIS is a truly international school.
Our students hail from families who come from across the globe and share our values of humanity, tolerance and empathy. Together, we are building a caring, internationally minded community of students, teachers and alumni – people who truly have the potential to leave a positive mark on our world.
DELIVERING INCLUSIVE EDUCATION
Every year, we welcome around 900 day students and around 80 boarding students, from 3 to 19 years of age. These students spend their days developing invaluable, life-long skills like critical thinking, languages and intercultural competencies across our early education, primary and secondary areas:
From ages 3-6, children join our early education community
From ages 6-11, students join Grades 1 to 5 to pursue the IB Primary Years Programme
From ages 11-19, students join our secondary school to pursue the IB Middle Years Programme and IB Diploma Programme
In all of these programmes, we encourage students to be courageous and explore new opportunities, fostering a pioneering spirit that will help them succeed, no matter what the future holds.
CREATING A SAFE AND HAPPY SPACE FOR STUDENTS
Our overarching goal at BBIS is to help students become happy, well-rounded humans.
Our classes are small – usually with fewer than 20 students – so that everyone receives individual attention and support. Beyond the classroom, collaboration and cooperation between staff, students, parents and the wider community is very important to us.
Growing up is not easy, but we understand the challenges and changes that occur. We support our students with dedicated, caring professionals at every step of the way. This nurturing approach – coupled with 24/7 security and a strong child-protection policy – makes BBIS a safe and supportive environment for your child.

Platanus School Berlin
We are a bilingual primary and secondary school (German/English) with a focus on MINT (Mathemtics, Sciences, ICT and Technology) or better known as STEM in English-spreaking countries. Under the roof of a distinguished, listed building, our school offers optimal learning conditions, where natural curiosity and individual needs can find their place from Year 1 all the way through to Year 13. Here, children and young people can learn in a calm environment, test themselves, develop their talents, deepen their interests, learn about cultural diversity and internalise languages.
We are of the opinion, that the development of children and young people’s identity is significantly supported by personal and shared experiences, challenging tasks and practical work both inside and outside of school. We have developed a “Work & Travel” program for our students in grades 5-10 which offers active career orientated experience, giving them a foundation for life after school. This program will help adolescents to cope progressively with their own personal challenges, will strengthen their courage and self-belief and pave the way for a fulfilling career path built around their own ideas and future plans.
Our bilingual education in both German and English, with our focus on MINT subjects, as well as a solid general education and digital literacy ensures that our students grow up to be global thinkers in an interdependent world and to be locally active in and around Berlin. The talented and motivated PSB team is currently made up of 13 different nationalities and is oriented to the lives and the worlds of our children and young people. The goal is to prepare them for the challenges of the future and, at the same time, to care for their safety, security and well-being in a safe school setting.

Nelson Mandela School
The Nelson Mandela School is a public (state-funded) international school in Berlin,
Nelson Mandela School provides quality bilingual education to children from a wide variety of backgrounds. English and German are the school’s official languages, but NMS does not stop at introducing its students just to German and Anglo-American values and traditions. As a truly international school and a member of UNESCO’s Associated Schools Project Network (ASP), it is the school's business to acquaint its students with as many different aspects of life on this planet as possible – and to enable them to make a positive difference wherever they go. Being named after Mr. Mandela, sub-Saharan Africa in general and South Africa in particular have a special place in the school's hearts, and NMS tries and lets that show wherever and whenever it can – be it in the school's classrooms or beyond. As a community-oriented school, NMS also co-operates intensively with a large number of local partners beyond the school gates here in Berlin – thinking globally and acting locally. Within the school, NMS fosters the idea of the school community wherever it can. Co-operation between students, staff and parents is intensive on all levels.
