However, the school does not cater for special needs education. |
The school supports gifted, able and talented students |
Liberté School's learning environment is, at its core, a child-led environment where learners are free to learn in their own way. Academics is implemented via individual learning plans focusing on cognitive science and the development of executive functioning skills. This allows children to progress at an advanced pace in the subject areas in which they excel while developing at a pace suited to them in subjects where their aptitude is in other areas. Such an environment is typically very well-suited to children with high potential. |

Liberté considers that expecting a child to perform above their abilities is not in the child’s best interest. Prospective learners are expected to meet the specific demands of the curriculum, stage or grade to which admission is sought. Prospective learners must have attained the required level of performance for entry into the School. Preference will be given to children with the highest academic potential and acceptable disciplinary and general behaviour records. This will be assessed during the admissions using the School’s assessment guidelines per age category or via proof of previous education. About the school
Qualities and characteristics best defining the school |
Liberté School provides a learning environment where children are allowed the freedom to learn in a manner most suited to them individually. Our educational approach is based on Cognitive Science principles: the science of learning and thinking with a strong focus on the development of executive functioning skills. |
Teaching approach of the school |
Children are intelligent and competent humans with an innate ability to participate actively in their learning. At Liberté, we believe that learning is amplified by a safe learning environment that promotes social interactions among children of different ages, cultures and backgrounds. With this in mind, the overriding curriculum outcome is to create a learning and personal development culture that prioritises the development of executive functioning skills. This learning environment ultimately leads to increased learning capacity and better decision-making. Our curriculum aims, therefore, encompass the following outcomes: -Providing learners with the skills needed for planning, fluid intelligence (reasoning, problem-solving, creative, critical and adaptable thinking), self-monitoring, self-control, time management, organisation and the ability to collect, organise, analyse and critically evaluate information for sound decision making.
