Yes. Students in the primary years will be given activities to complete at home on a regular basis. This becomes more regular as the student moves up through the primary years. Home activities should
be a useful and positive experience which complements what is being taught in class. The goal is to help students to become more independent and disciplined in their study and create an opportunity
for teachers and parents to share in the students’ learning.

Current educational research focuses on ensuring homework tasks are meaningful and connected to learning in the classroom. As such, it is the belief of Panyaden that
homework should be purposeful and relevant to student learning while at the same time recognizing the importance of balance in the lives of students. Therefore, it is
encouraged that homework is assigned only when absolutely necessary, with the underlying purpose that it extends student learning beyond the classroom.

In order to translate these beliefs into action, Panyaden secondary school has set in place the following guidelines in regards to homework:
● Homework is given to support work, projects and research undertaken during the school day. It is connected to what is happening in the classroom and has
a distinct purpose; it extends student learning beyond the classroom.
● Some homework projects may be open-ended: a research assignment, an art project or a survey and may be completed over several nights.
● Parental communication with students about their learning is strongly encouraged, however completion and submission of homework is the
responsibility of the student.

Guidelines for Year 7
Approximately 40 minutes per week for each subject, and approximately 20 minutes per week for subjects that meet once per week.

Guidelines for Years 8 and 9
Approximately one hour of homework per subject per week.

Guidelines for Years 10 and 11
30 minutes per day per subject period taught that day.

Furthermore, it is recommended that students take the opportunity to read for pleasure each day, either independently or with an adult in their first or second
language. A teacher may also choose to assign specific reading and/or writing tasks as part of homework.

Yes, at Panyaden students have access to school counsellors and learning support specialists. The team of support staff are available at both Primary and Secondary Campus.

There is a nine-stage approach to meeting children’s needs, depending on their level of need.
The homeroom teachers work closely with the students and with the learning support team to identify the difficulties and explore ways of helping the student.
All teachers should be using the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) for academics, behaviour, and or social-emotional needs.

A referal may be made from the Homeroom teachers to the learning support team. The Learning Support Teacher, School Counselor, and the School Principals collaboratively guide the staff in implementing the Provision/ Accommodation and/ or the Behavior Intervention Plan and assist in monitoring progress. The Learning Support Teacher and Counselor are responsible for conducting weekly check-ins with the student, parents, and all staff. With official documentation of learning and/ or a behaviour disability diagnosis, the Learning Support Specialist, along with the School Counselor, draws up an Individualised Education Plan (IEP) and or a Behavior Modification Plan (BMP).

Entrance assessment and a parent meeting is required for all students entering from Nursery to Year 12. We do not accept students to Year 13 as the IBDP requires a full two years of continuing studies.

In most cases, the assessment is as follows:

Nursery to Year 1
Applicants will be assessed using a play-based interview. During this time, the applicant is assessed in the areas of fine motor skills, language use, development, social skills, ability to follow instructions, and general program readiness. The parent will be in an interview with the school Principal.

Year 2
Applicants will be asked to submit their previous academic year report card, which helps demonstrate class experiences. The parent will be in an interview with the school Principal.

Year 3 to Year 12
Students are initially screened with a computer-based WIDA test for English placement that covers speaking, listening, reading and writing in English. A MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessment will be used to determine the student’s maths and science skills. Thai language skills are also assessed through verbal exchange and reading and writing tests. All families are interviewed by the Principal to make sure the child will benefit from a consistent approach to education at school and at home.

Yes, the school waiting list prioritises students by order of when their full application was made. The security deposit of 75,000 THB is non-refundable and non-transferable. This deposit is refundable in full if the school is unable to offer a seat for your child.

The school year typically starts in the first week of August and ends in mid-June. If space allows and the admissions requirements are met, children can join the school throughout the year. Placement for students who require EAL or learning support will depend on the availability of resources and the needs of our current students.

In the morning, we expect children to make their own way to the classroom once they are familiar
enough with the school. Parents and guardians may need to encourage their children to do this.
From Monday-Thursday, playground supervisors will be on duty to watch over children from 7:45-
8:15 and from 15:20-16:00. On Friday, supervisors will be on duty from 7:45-8:20 and 14:05-14:25.

Yes. Panyaden International School provides healthy and nutritious snacks and lunches to ensure your
child has a balanced diet each day. All school lunches are prepared on site with fresh ingredients.
Our lunch menu offers both Thai and international options and morning and afternoon snacks
include fruit, sandwiches and other food. There is always a vegetarian option and we use brown
rice.
Our policy is that children do not bring food or snacks to school unless they have special dietary
needs that were discussed with the administration and that are not met by the school. We also ask
that parents do not give their children food on the school premises before or after school or share
food with other children.

The school helps to coordinate a large variety of after-school clubs. These clubs run from 16:00 and
give students from nursery to high school a chance to participate in exciting extra-curricular

Panyaden International School is a British Curriculum school that offers a high quality learning environment delivered using the International Primary Curriculum from Year 1 to Year 6. The British Curriculum is academically rigorous, highly regarded and remains the most popular choice for international schools worldwide. Using the UK curriculum alongside the IPC and Thai Language and Culture curricula results in a remarkably strong academic curriculum that keeps student-centred learning at the forefront of our approach.

Teachers work together with specialists to make sure all subjects are integrated as much as possible. A typical day includes one hour of English, Thai, Maths, and a Specialist subject with clear connections to the IPC theme. Another hour each day is spent specifically on the theme of the Integrated Unit of Learning. Some themes might have a strong history and geography focus, while others focus more on science. The International Primary Curriculum is a thematic and inquiry based curriculum organised into integrated Units of Learning. Assessment takes many forms at Panyaden. The end of unit assessments lead to a grade for each subject included in that unit. Day to day learning includes differentiation and personalised feedback. For our Middle Years, one of the main goals of the middle school programme is to provide students with an environment that supports the rapid intellectual and personal changes happening in their lives. Middle school students move through the rapid changes that are part and parcel of their age, including the progression from the self-contained learning environment to the potentially daunting transition to high school (Years 10-13).

Our curriculum, The International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC), not only provides a bridge from the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), but also prepares our students for the demands of analysis and synthesis that are inherent in typical high school tasks. In addition, the IMYC programme reinforces our school’s mission to develop resilient, thoughtful and caring individuals through a practical, values-based education that makes them competent global citizens.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma programme (IB) is offered for our last 2 years of high school students. The programme results in personal and academic development and, upon successful completion, a globally recognized diploma. Consistent with Panyaden’s core values and strengths, the IB diploma programme aims to develop the thinking and skills of students to become tomorrow’s leaders and change-makers.

The Panyaden Academic Diploma is the culmination of a challenging, university-preparatory programme for students who plan to pursue higher education upon graduation. Courses include a range of offerings including English, modern languages, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, art and a variety of electives. A minimum of 24 credits is required to graduate with a Panyaden Academic Diploma. One year of coursework in one subject area is worth one credit. A Panyaden Academic Diploma is a minimum requirement for acceptance to universities globally including the United States and Canada. This diploma will also meet the requirements for acceptance to various higher education courses in Europe and other continents.
