Entry evaluation for students |
Assessment |
Brief description of entry evaluation required |
At DBS Jumeira, we take a holistic approach to understanding and nurturing each child's unique development. For Foundation 1 and Foundation 2, assessments are primarily observational, with teachers closely observing children as they engage in play and interact with their environment. These observations focus on the child's physical development, body awareness, and social interactions. Teachers also engage children in conversations to better understand their communication skills and emotional development. For Year 1 and Year 2, assessments cover core areas such as mathematics, reading, and writing. In addition to these academic skills, children are invited to share information about themselves and engage in age-appropriate conversation. Any relevant documents, such as previous reports, awards, or evidence of special interests or talents, are welcomed by our educators to help build a fuller understanding of each child. For children in Year 3 and above, we incorporate an online diagnostic tool that further supports the holistic assessment process, ensuring we capture a well-rounded view of each student's academic and personal growth. |
