The Inclusion Department offers a range of support to students with a broad spectrum of learning styles and needs. SVS' Inclusion Department is positioned in the heart of the school to reflect its inclusive philosophy and approach. All lessons will be differentiated to support the needs of all learners, this includes students who are more able, gifted and/or talented as well as those for whom learning presents some challenges. |

At South View, Most Able, Gifted, and Talented pupils are highly valued. We ensure their unique needs are met through in class challenge and extension, higher-order and critical thinking questioning, extra-curricular activities and internal and external competitions. Under the direction of our Most Able, Gifted and Talented Coordinator, pupil progress is closely monitored and discussed at termly Pupil Progress Meetings. Where necessary, provision may involve individual education planning to ensure all individuals reach their potential. |

Brief description of entry evaluation required |
Foundation aged children (FS1&2) will be assessed through play-based learning. The assessment will take place in a child-friendly learning environment. SVS' academic team will observe and interact with your child within a small group of age-related peers. The assessment will focus on seven areas of Learning and Development and will be conducted to showcase your child’s talents and areas of strength. The assessment will take approximately one hour and parents are asked to wait in the waiting area should your child be comfortable with this. Key Stage 1 aged children (Years 1-2) will be assessed in a child-friendly learning environment. SVS' academic team will observe and interact with your child within a small group of age-related peers. They will complete a reading, writing and maths assessment along with a circle time session with their peers. The assessment will take approximately one to one and a half hours. Key Stage 2 aged children (Years 3-6) will be assessed in a primary classroom setting with age-related peers. They will complete a reading, writing and maths assessment along with a circle time session with their peers. The assessment will take approximately one and a half to two hours. Secondary aged students (Years 7 onwards) will be invited in to have an interview with SVS' academic team and will complete a math and writing assessment along with partaking in a collaborative task with their peers. The assessment will take approximately two to two and a half hours. |
