In these cases children are referred to clinics within Dubai according to parental preference.

Learning support offered

At VHPS we welcome children with different academic backgrounds and abilities. Our aim is to ensure the learning needs of all children are met in a safe, secure, happy and dynamic environment. Understanding different learning styles and offering children opportunities to learn in different ways through appropriate planning, teaching, collaboration and assessment is a significant focus.

The learning enhancement department offers additional support for children with mild to moderate learning difficulties taking into consideration the needs of all learners within the mainstream environment. Children who are identified as having additional learning needs are supported in a variety of ways which includes receiving specific support from either the Learning Enhancement coordinator, Learning enhancement teachers, teaching assistants or classroom teaching assistants. This support may be in the form of withdrawing the child from class and providing individualized support in either a one to one or group setting. In addition to this, in-class interventions are completed to ensure that the curriculum is being differentiated to meet the child's individual learning needs.

The school supports gifted, able and talented students

We ensure that we challenge the thinking of gifted and talented children by providing a broad curriculum and offering enrichment throughout. We strive to develop depth to their knowledge, skills and understanding, whilst encouraging them to apply what they know to different contexts. Personalized learning plans, which the children are actively involved in creating, are used to ensure progress and challenge for these students.

Currently Victory heights does not have an onsite educational psychologist. However if a referral is required the school has links with a number of centers who can provide this support and ensure information is effectively disseminated into the school.
