About the school
Qualities and characteristics best defining the school |
Pembroke House has been educating children for nearly a century. It is a small yet vibrant IAPS flexible boarding school for both boys and girls aged between 6 months and 13 years. It has a unique 'Pembroke Spirit' that matches it's unique location in the heart of the Rift Valley, Kenya and fully embodies it's school motto of 'Fortuna Favet Fortibus' (Fortune Favours The Brave) Our children are inquisitive and thrive in a setting that places a high emphasis on the outdoors and it's stunning natural environment. |
Teaching approach of the school |
The teaching places a strong emphasis on the individual child, with a clear vision of bringing out the best in every child both in and out of the classroom. The school follows a broad British curriculum and has small class sizes. Lessons range from dedicated Outdoor Learning lessons in the schools' forestry , Kenyan Citizenship and Kiswahili to traditional subjects such as Latin. Collaborative, project based learning is enjoyed in the STEAM centre. Sport plays a significant part of Pembroke Life. All children also benefit from remarkable school trips, whether learning about conservation and human/wildlife conflict in the Maasai Mara or climbing Mt Kenya! |
