Development of reading and writing proficiency for academic success, as well as oral and listening communication skills, form the basis of instruction within our EAL classes. All admission of students entering our EAL program will include a review cycle, where continuing at Concordia will be based on progress in English. We have limited spaces in our EAL program. |

At the elementary school level, the students are assigned 20 minutes of reading each night and math work. At the middle and high school levels, students have more homework based on the courses to which they are enrolled. The suggested amount of time for the secondary division homework is approximately 1 to 2 hours a night. |

The school supports gifted, able and talented students |
Gifted and talented curriculum is considered normal at Concordia. We have plenty of opportunities to challenge moderately to highly gifted students. Our curriculum is able to be modified in the scope of the highly gifted student. We avoid grade skipping but we do accelerate content. At the high school level, Concordia caters to gifted students by providing specialized AP and college level classes to accommodate the student's growth. |

Brief description of entry evaluation required |
Concordia requires an interview and pre-entry testing for all students. Testing for students includes both a math and an English language component, a writing sample and an interview. Students are accepted into Concordia upon successful completion of the pre-entry assessment. There is a wait pool for most grades. Students can apply at any time during the school year. However, first priority admissions decisions are given on March 1 for the preceding school year. Families seeking admission are encouraged to apply and have their child assessed prior to February 1 preceding the school year to which their child wishes to enroll. The Admission fee is a $400USD nonrefundable application fee. |
