The purpose-built, 21st century-fit campus has wireless internet access and fully networked classrooms all with interactive smart boards for digital learning.

Homework is set daily for all pupils as an integral and essential part of their education. The habit of regular homework is seen as the primary method of providing opportunities to develop independent study and research skills, effective time management and personal organisation. These life-skills form the foundation on which all future academic success is built. Homework is predominantly used to consolidate and reinforce learning objectives already covered in the classroom. For older children, research and study-based extended projects will also be set for homework.

Approximately 30 minutes of homework is set in Year One and Year Two for four nights per week. Homework will consist of spelling, and number or topic work. In Years Three and Four, homework is set at around forty minutes each evening with an increase in research-based tasks. In Year Five and Year Six, the amount of homework is increased in preparation for the children’s transition to Secondary school. All students are expected to complete some meaningful reading activity each day, including weekends, and maintain a Reading Diary in their home school journal.

At the end of Key Stage 1 and 2, children will complete the UK Statutory Assessment Tests in English and mathematics. Each child receives a level of attainment which, when considered alongside the teacher’s end of key stage full academic report, provides a complete summative assessment of each child’s progress and attainment during the Primary phase. At the end of Year 1, children will complete the UK phonics screening check which assesses their progress in reading.

The School makes every effort within the special needs classroom, named as St. Bosco Centre, to ensure provision for as wide a range of special educational needs as possible, depending upon the school’s capacity to meet the child’s specific needs. It is made clear to prospective or new parents, as at early a stage as possible, what support the school is able to provide, where it might not be able to meet some needs, and in a few cases, where it may only be able to meet
needs up to a certain age but not beyond it.
