Student support

Dedicated staff/programs for students with special learning needs

Support with learning needs occur in a variety of ways:

Learning Support Centre (LSC): LSC provides close and structured support for 21 students with moderate learning difficulties. Students divide their time between the LSC and their mainstream class according to the level of need. Admission into the LSC is a special application which needs support from
appropriate services eg an educational psychologist and must also be passed by the Primary Admissions Group.

Learning Support Mainstream: For students within the mainstream, support with a primarily literacy focus is available for those students who need ‘a boost’.

Learning support offered

At Bradbury School, all teachers work closely with the Learning Support Teacher and follow a designated process for identifying, referring, monitoring and supporting children with individual needs. This process is in line, where appropriate, with the Code of Practice as established by the ESF. Programmes that support students identified as performing at a level significantly higher than their peers will also be offered by this department.

In addition, our Bradbury School parents play an important role in the student support process. Parents may be invited to attend meetings with teachers to discuss how they can support their child’s learning at home and to participate in the process of setting appropriate learning and behavioural goals for their child. This partnership between home and school is extremely important and highly valued at Bradbury School.
