Qualities and characteristics best defining the school

Sha Tin Junior School is part of the English Schools Foundation (ESF), the largest foundation of international schools in Asia.
Sha Tin Junior School is fully authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP). Authorisation was granted in May 2009, SJS becoming the first ESF primary school to achieve this status.

The school shares a well-located, safe and secure campus with Sha Tin College and boasts excellent resources and facilities.

Teaching approach of the school

SJS is a fully authorised school and has been granted accreditation status
from the Council of International School. SJS and ESF share a commitment
to all children, differentiating teaching and learning to meet the needs of all students.

The school has clear guidelines for each curriculum area and these form the basis for planning, teaching & learning and assessments. Teachers plan together in horizontal and vertical groups to maintain a consistent approach and an appropriate level of challenge for each child.
SJS works hard to ensure that the curriculum shows continuity and progression through Years 1 – 6 and promotes ‘assessment capable’ learners.
