SIS South Jakarta boasts a green campus with a cozy atmosphere in the Bona Vista neighbourhood of South Jakarta. The school has a very large, well equipped library and spacious halls and classrooms that are uncommon in Jakarta. The brand new Language Labs, Robotics Maker Space and VR club have their own new facilities. Other amenities include a well-maintained grass football pitch, full-court basketball, badminton, outdoor swimming pool, hybrid indoor/outdoor cafeteria, world-class biology labs and separate but equally well-equipped chemistry labs, student lounge, religious study centre, music hall and bright, well equipped classrooms and plenty of open green areas for informal gathering and learning.
SIS South Jakarta may have a new name but it’s the result of a complete transformation of SIS Bona Vista, a school with 20-years of proven academic performance with alumni that have gone on to study at many of the world’s leading universities. Our vision is to inspire learners toward great heights and our mission is to spark curiosity and inquiry while developing values and 21st century skills. We prioritise learners and personalise learning to make a better world.
While following the Singapore curriculum, Cambridge and IB curriculums, we take great pride in our dedication to STEM - the integrated teaching of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. This has informed our investment in world class biology and chemistry labs and it has driven our more recent facilities for robotics and coding. During the Covid-19 pandemic our Distance Learning program was hailed by parents as a success, in part because we are all technically savvy. Our current focus is on the future and the role Virtual Reality will play in the classroom.
Aside from the obvious understanding that regular exercise is key to a healthy body and brain, we take competitive sports seriously at SIS South Jakarta. Why? One of the key character attributes we foster in all our students is resilience. Studies show how sports helps inculcate discipline, develops self-esteem and confidence, encourages teamwork, boosts social skills, and most importantly, helps them understand that it’s okay to fail.
“Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure . . . than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.” —Theodore Roosevelt
The SIS South Jakarta family likes to celebrate together. Whether it’s hosting regional math contests, cultural events, graduation ceremonies or throwing a concert at the end of the year, we know how to put on a show. We also host regular webinars, in person panel discussions and often put on value-added seminars like health and safety training. Our campus is always a buzz of activity and we always aim to make it a welcoming, fun place for students, parents, teachers and special guests.
