Qualities and characteristics best defining the school

Koper International School is a small British curriculum primary and secondary accredited international school committed to academic excellence. We offer a supportive, inclusive environment where students thrive through personalised attention, hands-on and project based learning, and English immersion, preparing them to become confident and caring citizens ready for success in an international world.

Teaching approach of the school

Primary School (Years 1-6)
In our Primary School, we take a hands-on, project-based approach to learning, encouraging students to explore topics through practical activities and real-world projects that integrate multiple subjects. Our cross-curricular approach helps students make connections between different areas of learning, creating and developing curiosity and deeper understanding. English immersion is central to our teaching, ensuring students develop strong language skills in a supportive and nurturing environment where individual progress is valued, and confidence grows through positive encouragement and engaging lessons.
Secondary School (Years 7-13)
In Secondary School, we continue to emphasise project-based learning, allowing students to develop critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. With full English immersion, students engage in subject-specific learning while continually strengthening their language proficiency. Our supportive learning environment ensures that all students receive individualised attention, helping them to excel academically and personally. Some teachers also apply a flipped classroom approach, encouraging students to prepare independently before applying their knowledge through active, discussion-based lessons, preparing them for the rigorous demands of IGCSE and A-Level study.
