Asia Pacific International School is a friendly and happy school with a strong sense of community. Respect, tolerance, creativity, and independent learning are a priority at APIS, as APIS understands that a good education is not only about exam results, but also the emotional and social development of our children |
Teaching approach of the school |
The school offers a thematic approach to Pre-School and Primary learning. The Pre-School programme is for children below the age of 5 years and is divided into Nursery and Reception classes. Nursery is for children aged 3 on entry, and will follow a playschool programme. Reception is for children aged 4 on entry. Basic competence in reading and writing should be expected by the end of Reception year. The programme for Reception is based upon the National Curriculum of England. Students in Years 1–6 (usually ages 5–11) follow the Cambridge Primary Programme in the core subjects Mathematics, Science and English, supplemented by the provisions of the National Curriculum of England in the non-core subjects, such as History. Students in Years 7–9 (usually ages 11–14) follow the Cambridge Secondary 1 Programme. This again covers the three core subjects, which we supplement with the other subjects expected in the National Curriculum of England. Students in Years 10 and 11 (usually ages 14–16) take Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) courses. Cambridge IGCSE is internationally recognized and used in schools worldwide. The IGCSE brings out the best in students academically and develops successful learners through a skills-based approach to teaching and assessment. |
