Havil International School is located in a prime iconic location right at the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The school is less than 1km from Malaysia’s largest transportation hub and is the only Cambridge recognised International School in the area. Havil International School’s mission and educational philosophy is based upon these three principles: character, competence and community. It embodies Havil's commitment to provide innovative education, which enhances creative learning and represents the school's aspirations for students to thrive and excel through the joy of responsible learning. We provide an environment where educative learning is guided through encouragement, empowerment and enthusiasm. Havil celebrates the vitality of a diverse, multicultural and multilingual learning environment where English language is taught and spoken. Character: It has been said that academic excellence is no substitute for poverty of character. Havil strives to educate, not just to teach. And in doing so, ite seeks to make the children excel in learning, while helping to develop strong character values that will stand them in good stead in life. Havil's teachers - both from Malaysia and overseas - are specially selected for their outstanding character and strong spiritual values. Competence: Havil seeks not to give the children a fish, but to teach them to fish. At Havil, competence is developed not through rote learning but by stimulating the mind to learn and to explore not only the world they see, but also the one they have yet to see. The syllabus embraces a global outreach that truly makes the world one big classroom. Community: Havil provides the students with a safe, stimulating and conducive environment. Relationships matter and this will be reflected in the caring and mentoring relationship between the student and teacher, the school and the parents, as well as between the students and the community at large. While small in size, Havil is big in heart and the students will learn from young to reach out to the community, especially those who are marginalized. |
Teaching approach of the school |
At Havil, the potential of a student is in his character. The school curriculum is developed in recognition of the importance of developing the full potential of the student. It endeavours to equip students with knowledge and skills that will serve them not only in their lives as children but later as adults. It is concern to develop their capacity for creative expression and response, and it promotes emotional and physical development. Havil’s curriculum aims at developing students who will demonstrate independence, build strong knowledge content, and will be capable of responding to varying demands of task, purpose and discipline. While the core of the Cambridge Curriculum focuses on the three main streams, English, Mathematics and Science, Havil offers additional subjects to ensure a more comprehensive education for its students. Havil's holistic curriculum allows students to develop interest the arts, drama and literature; technology and environmental science; business studies; modern languages and physical education with selective competitive sports to enable and empower students to develop a wider range of academic, social and social skills. |
