Teaching approach of the school |
Learning in SIS focuses on your child as an individual, able to think reflectively, inquisitively and above all, to be a life-long learner. Everyone has a specific skill that they can harness and build upon, and our curriculum is delivered in a conducive and cognitively stimulating environment that will inspire your child to participate actively and put in their best efforts. SIS has a comfortable and supportive environment that encourages every student to excel academically and personally. Each teaching group is small enough to provide individual attention and allow each student to be nurtured and developed to their full potential. Our engrossing and exciting learning environment allows students to make meaningful links between textbooks and the world beyond their classrooms. The programme is student-centred, where students are taught knowledge, skills and understanding; not just to write exams, but to take this knowledge to apply it, to think critically and to communicate it. It is a unique style of teaching/learning and our students not only enjoy it but are well positioned for success in post-secondary programmes at English speaking universities around the world. From Grade 7 to Grade 11, SIS concentrates on English literacy and Mathematics numeracy. It offers a semester model with an emphasis on project-based learning, assignments, experiential field trips, independent research and group work. |
