Student support
Dedicated staff/programs for students with special learning needs |
The Life-Centered Education (LCE) program is designed to meet the needs of students who have significant intellectual, learning, or developmental differences. Students accepted into the program receive personalized academic programming with embedded social-emotional learning from highly trained special educators. Each Student Success Plan (SSP) is strength-based and intentionally designed to foster student independence and self-advocacy. Instruction is delivered in multiple locations within the school including the LCE classrooms, multi-sensory rooms, and general education classrooms. Each student’s SSP indicates the degree of participation in mainstream academic courses, including IB courses, specialist classes (art, music, & physical education), and after-school activities based on the student’s abilities and strengths. We believe that opportunities to engage in classes and activities with peers is a key aspect of inclusion programming. In 2019, ISKL won the prestigious International School Leader Awards in the Initiative for Inclusion category for its LCE program. The awards were hosted by the UK’s International School Leader Magazine and included nominations from schools in 38 different countries. The program is offered schoolwide for students in Elementary, Middle, and High School. More information can be found here: https://www.iskl.edu.my/education/learning-at-iskl/lceprogram |
