The Ofsted rating is irrelevant as this is an American school concerning the American curriculum which prepares the students for American college/university.
Ofsted is only concerned with the British educational curriculum and should really not be inspecting American schools the same way as it is totally out of context just as American inspection systems would not recognise British Schools as they don't have the same college system to aim for.
American School in London excels in fostering enhancement of self confidence and development and growth in students, preparing them for the more challenging college work when they return to the States.
It has a good close community and social circle. It has a caring nurturing basis of education which out the individuality and abilities of the students. In the more senior years students can excel in their chosen fields being sport and/or academic. The enhancing of social skills and world knowledge prepares students for ambassadorships in any company or context in which they may find themselves in the future. Film and the arts are taught as well as the more conventional academic subjects. Homework is provided and grades are awarded for achievement. The school is well equipped with staffing and materials and is strong on Maths, sciences, English and the Arts.
Included is the opportunity to visit different countries and study different cultures, this is a truly cosmopolitan school.
As a result, the students are kind, bright, friendly, sociable, caring and are a credit to American education.
The education is of a uniquely higher level than most. Sponsorship is required. American School in London (ASL) is a great school choice of American Schools for those American students based in London.

My experience at ASL has been terrible.
The curriculum focused more on gender and inclusivity than actual study.
Kids are made to learn gender stereotypes from age 7 without even understanding what a stereotype is.
In classes from 8 years old there are posters describing “dominant group”.
Skin colour is a no subject and the skin colour cannot even be used in descrittive terms.
Ultimate goal is not to teach but indoctrinate.
The pool is wonderful and most members of the staff are actually very nice and professional.
Unless you see your kids going to the US for college I would avoid this toxic environment.
