At Beacon Private School, we embrace a culture where every student is valued and cherished. We firmly believe that each child possesses a unique set of needs, skills, talents, dreams, and interests, and it is our primary duty as educators to nurture and cultivate these aspects. By deeply understanding our learners, we empower them by teaching the significance of having a voice and making choices while instilling the values of responsibility and reflection.
Despite being a young school, we have already achieved significant milestones. We take pride in being qualified to offer the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and obtaining accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed, following the innovative Common Ground Collaborative framework, with a focus on conceptual, competency, and character-based learning.
At BPS, our educational approach revolves around inquiry-based learning, fostering a spirit of curiosity, and encouraging our students to ask questions, seek answers, and draw their own conclusions. We also prioritize mindfulness and well-being, providing our learners with essential strategies to regulate their emotions and find inner calm. Moreover, we strongly advocate for multilingualism, offering daily classes in English, Arabic, Spanish, and French.

Beacon Private School (BPS) is a school located in the Kingdom of Bahrain (Al Hidd) that was established in 2018. BPS offers education to students from Pre-Nursery to Grade 12. The school's mission is to create a welcoming, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every learner can thrive. We prioritize inquiry-based learning to develop successful, independent learners in an environment that promotes respect and responsibility. At BPS, all students receive equitable learning experiences that cater to their needs, interests, and learning styles, and are encouraged to embrace learning as a lifelong quest.
BPS takes pride in complying with the Laws and Standards of the Kingdom of Bahrain and meeting the affiliation requirements of International Agencies and Organizations, including Common Grounds Collaborative (CGC), New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and the International Baccalaureate (IB). The CGC represents the school's teaching and learning 'DNA', and is the school's founding and principal educational partner. In May 2022, BPS was accredited by the NEASC, choosing the 'ACE Pathway' that focuses closely on teaching and learning. Furthermore, in November 2021, BPS was authorized as an IB World School for the Diploma Programme by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB). The school believes that the shared philosophy among IB World Schools - a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education - is essential for its learners. BPS strives to continue meeting these high standards and offering a top-quality education to its students.
Our dynamic curriculum, inspired by the Common Ground Collaborative framework, has been designed to meet the needs of learners up to grade 10. This approach focuses on fostering conceptual understanding, developing essential competencies, and nurturing character growth, allowing us to tailor education to the unique strengths and learning styles of each student. This approach fosters a love for learning and an appreciation for knowledge.
For our senior learners in grades 11 and 12, we offer the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP), which provides a rigorous and well-rounded education that prepares students for higher education and beyond.

Teaching approach of the school
|
At BPS, the approach to education is tailored to each age group in various ways. For learners up to grade 10, our dynamic curriculum, inspired by the Common Ground Collaborative framework, focuses on fostering conceptual understanding, developing essential competencies, and nurturing character growth. This approach allows us to tailor education to the unique strengths and learning styles of each young person. Additionally, our teachers use differentiated instruction strategies to ensure that all learners are challenged at their appropriate level.
For our senior learners in grades 11 and 12, we offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP), which is a rigorous and well-rounded education that prepares students for higher education and beyond. IB DP allows learners to specialize in their areas of interest while developing the critical-thinking and research skills necessary for university-level studies.
Furthermore, the program emphasizes the importance of community service, leadership, and intercultural understanding, preparing students to be responsible global citizens. At BPS, we strive to provide an education that is tailored to the unique needs and goals of each learner, preparing them for success in their future endeavors.

Learning
At BPS we define learning as a process that leads to a sustained and demonstrable consolidation or extension of conceptual understanding, competencies and character. These types of learning interact and form the ‘triple helix’, the DNA of the curriculum.
The whole program at our school balances the development of the concepts, skills and character. Guided inquiry, collaboration and communication are the approaches to teaching and learning that requires learners to engage in higher level thinking and problem solving as well as subject competences.
The BPS curriculum is built on rich varied experiences in a safe, supportive and loving environment that encourages social emotional growth and enhances development of cognitive, perceptual and physical skills of the learner.
