Brief description of entry evaluation required

Kindergarten: informal interview with parents and play morning.

Primary: the objective of the Phorms assessment is to enable the school to gain an initial impression of whether children’s development is in line with their age. On the assessment itself, the children are given age-appropriate tasks to solve.

Secondary: Phorms invites the parents and the child to a personal interview with the leadership of the secondary school. As the next step, the child takes part in three to five trial days. In the trial days, the student gets to know the daily school life and the teachers are able to obtain a better picture of the social and academic skills of the student.

About the school

Qualities and characteristics best defining the school

Phorms Bilingual School Munich is a bilingual private school where students are taught in German and English using the immersion method.
PBSM follows the Bavarian Curriculum, which correlates well with the school's central objective of providing each and every child with individual support. PBSM teachers select appropriate contents and methods from this curriculum which they then adapt to the respective pupil groups. Subjects in which English is the language of instruction are also based on the Cambridge International Certificate of Education (ICE). Since autumn 2014, PBSM provides the IB Diploma Programme for Years 11 and 12. In addition to the Bavarian Abitur, students can then also take the IB exams.

Teaching approach of the school

At all ages, Phorms provides the children in its care with the skills and knowledge they need to find their way in a world that presents so many new and fascinating facts and experiences every day, just waiting to be discovered. Curiosity and a passion for learning are crucial requirements for Phorms students. On this basis, the school offers a challenging and carefully structured curriculum that equips young people in every year group, in nursery, primary and secondary school with the skills and knowledge that are necessary if they are to be able to understand and shape the world around them. An important focus is the formation of individual personality. Respect for others, integrity and the ability and willingness to assume responsibility for oneself as well as others are the most important factors when it comes to ensuring that young people will take their lives in a meaningful direction in the future and help shape the world. The school's most important task is to lead by example and to set them on the right path.
