Use of technology in the classroom

All classrooms are equipped with CleverTouch smart boards. Students use laptops from Primary 4 on a daily basis. From Primary 4 students use KUBO the educational robot in cross-curricular lessons. Students also use Lego Mindstorms and have access to virtual reality glasses.

Yes, we have used Microsoft Teams for daily online learning during any lockdowns that we have experienced due to Covid-19.

Do students practice religion at the school? What religion?

No. As a school in Denmark, however, we do observe some holidays and traditions, often Christian, alongside those of other religions. We are very open to adding celebrations from other traditions to our holiday repitoire.

How does the school accommodate non-religious students or students of a different religion?

No one is forced to participate in religious traditions, but are encouraged to try everything once. At morning assemblies, we ask students to meditate on their own positive thought. During OIS weekly morning assemblies, we present major holidays of other religions as a way to learn more about our community.

We do not have formal evaluation or testing upon enrolment. There is a screening for preschoolers to be sure they are ready to start school, which is required by law.

We do not have a canteen. Class teachers remind parents if there is a child who has a particular food need, so that it is kept in mind for birthday celebrations, etc.

We offer LEGO Club, Maths Club, Art Club, and student council.

Sports activities included

All grade levels participate in two lessons of physical education class per week. The activities include basketball, volleyball, running, football, indoor hockey, cricket, and rugby, just to name a few.

Sports teams or sport competitions available for students

OIS is an active member of DISNAC (the Danish International Schools Network Athletic Conference). There are one or two meets per sport each year, including rugby, basketball, cricket, dodgeball, football, track and field, and cross country.

We have English and Danish libraries, full state-of-the art biology/geography and physics/chemistry science labs, a design & technology creative maker space, and a theatre.

We have a gym on campus and older students walk with their teachers to a nearby sports hall for the larger facilities.
