Do teachers assign homework to their students? |
Homework is an essential part of the curriculum offered at SABIS® Costa Verde that starts from Term 3 in Grade 4 and onwards. Homework is an opportunity for students to spend time outside of the class reviewing and reinforcing concepts taught in class. Homework is not an opportunity to learn new material; however, the extra practice that homework provides is a necessary part of the learning process. |
Approximate hours of homework given |
In Grade 4 and below, it is not a practice to assign homework in SABIS® Costa Verde. Nevertheless, it is recommended that parents find time to read with their children for 10 to 15 minutes each day. In Grades 5 and 6, students may be assigned a maximum of one hour of homework each day.

Student support
The school supports gifted, able and talented students |
At SABIS® Costa Verde, we understand that education is the key to the future and our teaching philosophy is aimed at delivering a top-quality education that allows all students, not only the gifted few, to use their education as a means to shape the future. As a result, we don’t label or categorize our students as gifted, able, and/or talented.

Brief description of entry evaluation required |
There are no academic requirements for acceptance into Kindergarten (3 to 5 years of age). Prospective students at these levels are interviewed; they must be toilet-trained and able to speak and follow simple instructions in either English or Spanish. All other older prospective students take diagnostic assessments in the core subjects of English, Spanish and mathematics.
