The school regrets that it cannot accept students with severe handicaps or learning disabilities.

Learning support offered

We believe that all students should have equal access to learning opportunities. To meet the diverse learning needs of our students, ISP provides a Learning Support program as part of its instructional continuum of services.

The school supports gifted, able and talented students

The school ensures that students with learning differences, including those with exceptionally high ability or talents, are given appropriate support to succeed in the learning environment.
Our intention and responsibility as educators is to support all learners in moving forward from where they are in their learning journey regardless where they are relative to grade level expectations. This intention aligns to our learning principle, “learners know where they’re at and how to move forward” and the related continuum research & development.

Student access to education psychologist

Each section of the school has its own counselor(s) who are specialists providing students with age-appropriate emotional and social guidance. The Upper School includes three dedicated guidance/college counselors to support students in their University and career choices. In addition, ISP has a School Psychologist who brings another level of expertise within the counseling department.

For example, students applying to our Middle School (grades 6-8) and Upper School (grades 9-12), whose mother tongue is not English, are required to take an English language assessment.

About the school

Qualities and characteristics best defining the school

Our mission is:
We Inspire, Engage, and Empower all learners to be Curious – Competent – Compassionate – Changemakers.

Teaching approach of the school

Our mission is to Inspire, Engage and Empower all learners and is realised through our compelling student profile, where our students are Curious, Competent, Compassionate Changemakers. Changemaking is at the core of who we are and what we do.

Programmatically, the International School of Prague is a full International Baccalaureate curriculum (IB) continuum school. Having been a Diploma Programme school for over 25 years, ISP is now authorised as a CP (Career-related Programme) School. We are also offering PYP (Primary Years Programme) for ECF – Grade 5 and the MYP (Middle Years Programme) for Grades 6-10.

Elementary School:
ISP helps its students to develop a sense of themselves as lifelong learners and problem solvers. To do this, students must acquire skills in reading, writing, math and critical thinking. They must also be armed with the ability to become skillful decision-makers and responsible citizens in a global community. The diversity of our many cultures is a strength that the school uses to make ISP an exceptional educational environment that supports this development.

Middle School:
The Middle School program has been especially designed to meet the needs, talents and interests of the young adolescent. ISP believes that the middle school years can be the most productive and exciting of all, despite the stresses of physical change and the uncertainties of identity-formation associated with the age group. Thus, ISP tries to capitalize on the energy, enthusiasm and natural curiosity of emerging adolescents while, at the same time, providing the guidance and structure they need to deepen their knowledge and understanding and to enable them to take increasing responsibility for their own learning.

Upper School:
The Upper School is designed to prepare students for post-secondary education in colleges and universities throughout the world. Students earn the ISP diploma by acquiring the requisite number of credits in various curriculum areas, described in the Program of Studies, and may also opt to pursue the International Baccalaureate diploma. A full host of academic and elective courses offer students a most challenging program while also allowing them opportunities to stretch themselves by exploring interests in a variety of special areas.
