Aida Adnan
Director
As a mother of five and a lifelong advocate for student-centered education, I founded Makers Learning School (MLS) with a deep commitment to nurturing young minds at every stage of their journey. Coming from a family of educators, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of education—and at MLS, we are shaping a future where academic excellence, social-emotional growth, and innovation go hand in hand.
Established in 2005, MLS began as a nurturing haven for early childhood education and has since grown into a thriving K-12 institution. We are proud to celebrate a milestone in 2026—our first class of graduating seniors, a testament to our dedication to holistic education.
At MLS, we are the first fully integrated social-emotional school in the region practicing Conscious Discipline. Our project-based curriculum embeds design thinking and innovation, preparing students to be adaptable, forward-thinking leaders. We cultivate emotional intelligence, multilingual fluency (Arabic, English, French, and Mandarin), all while celebrating Arab identity through a strong Arabic program.
I invite you to join us in creating a dynamic learning environment where students thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

Teaching approach of the school
|
At our school, we are Makers of the Future—Compassion-Inspired Innovators. As the only fully integrated social-emotional school in the Middle East, we prioritize developing both the academic and emotional well-being of our students. Our teaching approach is student-centered, focusing on personalized learning experiences that cater to the individual needs of each child. We embrace a project-based approach that encourages hands-on learning and critical thinking. Our curriculum integrates the PYP framework with the American curriculum, fostering creativity, collaboration, and innovation, while also nurturing compassion and emotional intelligence.

Early Learners | Ages 2-5
MLS has adopted the High Scope Curriculum for the Early Learners Program. High Scope revolutionized early childhood education with a new approach to teaching and learning. Research based and child focused, the High Scope Curriculum uses a carefully designed process - called "active participatory learning" - to achieve powerful, positive outcomes.
MLS teachers and parents have discovered the High Scope Curriculum not only helps young children excel in language and cognitive learning but also promotes independence, curiosity, decision-making, cooperation, persistence, creativity, and problem solving - the fundamental skills that help determine success in adult life.
PYP | Ages 5 to 11
MLS is an IB World School. We are fully authorized to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP).
Within our classrooms, the development of social and emotional executive skills is seamlessly integrated into lessons, fostering collaboration, communication, and innovation. As an essential part of our PYP experience, students are primed to embrace challenges with resilience, empathy, and a growth mindset.
The PYP is a transdisciplinary curriculum framework that promotes inquiry-concept driven learning. Through a holistic approach, students learn to appreciate the interconnectedness of knowledge, conceptual understanding, skills, and personal attributes. In our dynamic PYP classrooms, curiosity is ignited, leading to inquiry-led learning that sparks genuine interest and enthusiasm.
Middle School | Ages 11-14
Our Middle School program follows US Common Core Curriculum Standards and is supported by research-driven curricula that are designed to meet learners' various academic levels. Learning is teacher-facilitated, child-centered, and supports the needs of ELL students (English Language Learners).
For Language and Literature, students follow the Lucy Calkins Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop. Research indicates that process-writing programs such as Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop help students become proficient writers.
Meanwhile, in Science, we guide learning through the phenomena-driven curriculum provided by Amplify Science. Science units are project-based and relevant to the environment and climate.
In Math, MLS students use HMH and IXL, which focus on the “why” behind mathematical concepts.
High School | Ages 14 to 18
Our American High School Diploma follows Common Core Standards and is supported by research-driven curricula. As of grade 9, students can also choose from our Early College Courses, available in partnership with US Colleges.
For Language and literature, students follow the McGraw Hill Study Sync interactive online curriculum. Meanwhile, in Science subjects, we guide learning through the phenomenon-driven learning platforms provided by McGraw Hills' Inspire Science.
In Math, MLS students use MHM and IXL, which focus on the "why" behind mathematical concepts.
Our Social Studies offering consists of Model United Nations and an introduction to History and Geography. Focusing on both local and global topics.
Our Facilities
The MLS campus is a home away from home, designed to foster comfort, creativity, and collaboration. Our classrooms provide structured yet inviting learning spaces without open seating, ensuring an optimal balance between focus and flexibility.
The family-style cafeteria encourages connection over meals, reinforcing our strong sense of community. At the heart of our school, the central playground offers a natural environment where students can play, explore, and recharge.
Our state-of-the-art facilities include specialized labs for biology and chemistry, a dedicated design and technology room, and an innovative makerspace, all designed to inspire hands-on learning and problem-solving. Every aspect of our campus is intentionally crafted to support both academic excellence and emotional well-being.
