I have spent two years at this school during our time in Rome.
It has great potential to be a leading school and live up to their marketing slogans.
Unfortunately, all that looks great on paper is not reflected on the school grounds: anti-bullying policies are not enforced, there is a general culture of brushing under the carpet, ...normalization of incredibly inappropriate behaviors and abusive language.
From homophobic slurs to swear words, from elementary children saluting with the nazi imagery to black children being called slaves, "N" word and so on. On a daily basis.
Managment deals with every incident on a one-on-one basis, sometimes calling in the families. No serious consequences are ever enforced. Bullies continue to exercise their 'power'. Those children who denounce are retaliated against. School grounds are not safe.
Children suffer, the parents complain, the school does not enough, mostly reciting very well written policies.
The issues at stake are huge and, while I agree a lot of these issues start at home, it be would be nice that the school lived up to its promise.
