Qualities and characteristics best defining the school

Chapel School was founded in 1947 by priests of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate Order with the aim of providing education for children from English-speaking Catholic families. Initially housed in a small building in the Jardins neighborhood, it is now located in Chácara Flora, a quiet residential area in São Paulo.
Chapel is an international school providing early-childhood, elementary and high school education. Three diplomas may be earned by students: American, Brazilian and/or International Baccalaureate.
Chapel’s mission is based in Christian values, ensuring complete development which enables students to make informed decisions, take responsibility for their actions, and for the needs of the community.

The institution is run by the priests and brothers of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate with a board committee consisting of priests and parents appointed by the order’s provincial and members of the congregation.
Chapel School is a member of the National Catholic Educational Association, the Association of American Schools in Brazil, the Association of American Schools in South America, and the National Honor Society. The institution is accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), Brazil’s Ministry of Education (MEC) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (AdvancED – SACS CASI). As a member of AdvancEd, Chapel School must ensure educational excellence by continuously evaluating its curriculum, mission and vision.

Teaching approach of the school

In a caring and academically challenging environment, Chapel provides an American-style education to an international student body. Through Christian values, students learn to make informed decisions, to own responsibility for personal actions and community needs, and to respect life and cultural diversity.

Chapel School has three comprehensive programs that lead students to earn American, Brazilian and International Baccalaureate diplomas.
