The results of the 2021 IB exams have been released, and, once again, our leavers have given a stellar performance. Their scores mark the culmination of two years of hard work and dedication that will yield massive dividends in the future. Over 1/3 of pupils achieved a score of 40+ (out of maximum 45) with 1/3 also earning a bilingual diploma.
IGCSE
The 2019 IGCSE results were Wellington’s fourth set of excellent outcomes. This was the first year working with a mixed economy of CIE grades (A*-G) and Edexcel (9-1). 72% of all 2019 IGCSE grades were grade 9-7, or equivalent A*/A. 92% of all 2019 IGCSE grades were 9-6 or A*-B.

Wellington's Special Educational Needs (SEN) department provides support to pupils with emergent learning difficulties. In order to help pupils reach their full potential, we work closely with teachers and parents identifying needs, assessing the child, planning the right support, and implementing and reviewing SEN support.

Wellington believes in a holistic approach to education and offers an extensive Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) programme after the end of formal lessons. These are compulsory and included in the school fee. The Wellington Academy Programme offers further activities after the end of the school day.

Yes. For the convenience of our pupils and parents, Wellington provides a daily school bus service in cooperation with Shanghai Peixing Transportation Service Co.Ltd. The service operates more than 130 pickup points in Puxi and a further 70 in Pudong, with the aim of maximising coverage and convenience.

Sport is another major priority and Wellington's facilities are second to none, including the state-of-the-art indoor sports dome, the sports hall, three football pitches, a 400-metre all-weather synthetic running track, tennis and basketball courts and two swimming pools, one of which is a 25-metre, six-lane competition pool.

Our campuses
Wellington College International Shanghai’s main campus features state-of-the-art facilities to accommodate a holistic education. Pupils have access to an outdoor football pitch and running track; outdoor courts for netball, basketball and tennis; a multi-purpose sports hall featuring two swimming pools; and the Dome for other indoor sports events. For those pursuing the performing arts, the campus offers a 500-seat theatre, a black box theatre, a dance studio and private rehearsal spaces. A fully resourced library as well as labs for ICT, robotics and design present unique opportunities for enquiry, discovery and creativity. Wellington’s Early Years Centre provides pupils aged 2 – 5 with indoor and outdoor areas where they can learn through play.
Academics
Wellington’s Early Years Centre follows the English EYFS curriculum. Children learn through play and engage in daily phonics, maths, literacy, Chinese activities and swimming instruction. Its Prep School is modelled after the English National Curriculum enhanced with elements from the International Primary Curriculum. Senior School pupils pursue a diversity of courses and extend themselves beyond their comfort zone. Year 10 and 11 pupils work toward the IGCSE examination qualifications. Pupils in years 12 and 13 study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). After graduation, Wellingtonians matriculate to top-ranked universities such as Cambridge, the University of Chicago and the University of Toronto.
Enrichment programme
A Wellington education extends far beyond the walls of the classroom. Pupils can pursue their passions through a variety of enrichment programmes. Co-curricular activities (CCAs) offer over 100 academic, creative and athletic pursuits, ranging from football to fashion illustration. With Wellington’s Academy Programme, pupils can supplement their education and athletic skills with coaching and mentorship from select partner organisations. The school organises regular excursions throughout China and abroad to push pupils outside of their comfort zone, paying lasting dividends on their success in academics and life. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award presents pupils with the opportunity for personal improvement through leadership training, community service and physical conditioning.
