External examinations or assessments available

The Progress in Math (PiM) and Progress in English (PiE) tests for our older students, which are based on U.K. norms, progress tests pegged to Key Stage 2 and part of the Edexcel curriculum as well as in-house tests and assignments. Students also sit for the annual CAT 4 (Cognitive Abilities Test 4th Edition) which is the most widely used test of reasoning ability in the UK.

Homework is customised to each student so it depends on the child. Typically, Preparatory School students will receive 1 packet for Maths, Literacy and Spelling each week. Secondary School students will have homework based on their individual subjects.

Winstedt delivers a personalised education that is tailored to each student's learning style and academic abilities. This is made possible by our exceptionally small classes of maximum 15 students to 2 qualified teachers. The school also provides integrated academic and therapy support for those who need it.

Winstedt delivers a personalised education that is tailored to each student's learning style and academic abilities. Students are placed into a grade level based on a variety of factors, not just birthday, and small tailored learning groups are implemented for the core subjects of Maths, Literacy and Spelling for all students from Year 3 and above.

Entry evaluation for students

Students who meet the basic admissions criteria are invited to attend a 3-day class trial. It is an opportunity for the child to get a feel for the school and for us to learn more about them.

During the class trial, the child will attend classes, just like any other Winstedt student. The teachers, principal, pastoral care team and specialists will all information observations which is compiled and relayed verbally to parents at the end.
