Based on the 2 years educational experience for my kid in #ZlatarskiInternationalSchoolofSofia Grade 9-10 and comparing to #Anglo-AmericanSchool (5 5 years experience) and #BritishSchoolofSofia (2 years experience) this is a very local school with traditional academic approach craving to be perceived an international one looking for at least one international student to have the right to be named so. A very arrogant pro soviet approach towards students and parents lead by the owner and principle Mrs Kardasheva. Poor irrespecutful communication system where you would be queuing to see a decision maker for hours or waiting your letters to be answered for days. The school is run in a very autocratic way where every question/ decision/ comment is aligned with the principle and therefore all is catastrophically slow and delayed. The experience you want to avoid for your kid. Also important that the school is not ready to face and listen any feedback rather than delete comments except the good once from their face book page or take an action against students who post their negative comments proven on this page as well with the only difference that Google doesn’t allow to delete reviews. This helps to understand the true interest by the school authorities in improving the school life and processes. This is also a reason you cannot find relevant info, detailed references and comments when making a decision if to study there, except the once published by the school itself. The experience when for 3-4 weeks you have no time table at the start of a semester, when #ICGSE #Cambridge spring exams in 2019 are cancelled and not due to pandemic (as other schools had those) but due to the lack of capabilities to organize the process. On a positive side there are a few very good teachers if you choose history and math as your key subjects and the cost is around 6-7k€ which very often is a decision making point to pursue an IB Diploma though overall experience is far from what you might expect for your kid upbringing.

This is a fantastic school with really outstanding academic results teaching the Cambridge Secondary, IGCSE and IB Diploma programmes. The School is very academic yet the school atmosphere is really friendly and the students seem happy to be at the school. Some of the students have really impressive achievements and teachers do encourage them to go beyond the school curriculum if something really interests the student. This is a unique school in Sofia, it is a very popular school. There are selective entrance exams and due to the limited numbers accepted per year some students cannot gain place. Putting your child's name on the waiting list does help. Overall, the teaching team at Zlatarski School are very committed to the learning process. The school was the first in Bulgaria to offer the IB. Students come primarily from Sofia. There are no boarding facilities. The school community is wonderful. Happy we made this choice.
