All classrooms are equipped with SMART TVs. Teachers are equipped with iPads and laptops capable of projecting onto these screens for teaching. Students have access to school iPads and are also allowed, in certain circumstances, to use their own technology in the classroom.

Yes - especially during Covid. If we have travel delays, illness or injury and the student cannot be in the classroom, we can support students with virtual lessons.

There is no religious education at the school and our admissions process is religion-blind.

Our students complete iGCSE exams and can also do A-Levels & IBDP in their two final years before University.

We have had 3 rounds of IGCSE results since the school opened with a 100% A*- C results.

Yes. For primary students, homework tends to be supplementary and for the completion of unfinished classwork. For secondary students, homework increases in volume and time expected to complete it. Homework will form a part of assessment for secondary students.

For primary school, the suggested time is 30 minutes. For secondary school, the suggested time is 1 hour.

Since opening we have had 1 graduate who went onto University in Italy. We have 6 further in 2024 who will go to UK, USA & European University.

Yes - we have a highly trained Special Educational Needs Coordinator providing support to children with a range of special learning needs.

Our SEN coordinator works with students individually once each week, coordinating with classroom teachers and developing tailored educational plans.

The school supports gifted, able and talented students in a variety of ways. Firstly, through the development of tailored programs with our SEN Coordinator, which are then carried out by classroom teachers during non-regular teaching hours. We also support gifted students by helping them to take exams many years ahead of schedule. Three students took their first iGCSEs this summer, ranging in age from 12 to 14.

All students have access to an educational psychologist during their time with the school.

We offer all kinds of extracurricular activities. During the winter, students ski two or three times a week, while in the summer they will practice tennis, hockey, golf and football; after school, extra language lessons, particularly in Spanish, are offered; we run a weekly film club; students do downhill biking in the summer; music and video production classes are also available to students.

During the winter season, students ski twice a week, with extra sessions for particularly talented and passionate students. In the spring, summer and autumn, students use the facilities on and off site to practice tennis, football, hockey, golf, and mountain biking, amongst other sports.

Many of our students compete in local ski teams. Due to our size, we do not currently have any sports teams for students to participate in. This will change as we welcome more students.

Currently, we have a library, a 250-seat auditorium, a lunch hall, and have a ski-in, ski-out location. Over the summer, we will build a computer science and science laboratory.

We have two multi-purpose tennis courts on site.

The boarding house is a 10-minute walk from the campus and it’s swanky: think a four-star hotel with ensuite private rooms or only two sharing. There is also an open-plan living area and dining room, areas for study and a balcony with panoramic Alpine views.

In any school, one has a feel for what the school community focuses upon. This can be the school’s league table placing for exam results, places at top universities, the school’s prestige, a comfortable life for the staff, or profitability for the owners.

Copperfield’s focus is community itself: the creation of strong links between students, staff, parents and the broader community within which the school rests. This is because our understanding is that schools occupy a unique position in any community, with a responsibility to support children to become adults. A school must serve its community, and its students.

Only through service can leadership arise, and all other educational goals flow from and depend upon the school’s leadership position. This is a huge challenge and requires transparency, humility and patience. And it requires the school to role-model self-acceptance: recognising that we are all imperfect, all doing our best to be happy, and all aiming to improve a little more each day.

Schools occupy a position, between family and society, that is unique. Only schools can socialise a young person to prepare them to function as an independent, contributing and flourishing member of a democratic community.

This unique position creates significant responsibilities, challenges and opportunities for educators. We must bridge that gap between family and society, and transport a child into adulthood.
