Teaching approach of the school
|
GIIS schools adopt a futuristic curriculum to impart 21st century skills, so that students can emerge as confident, competent and contributory global citizens. A strong focus on integrating formal with informal learning, helps learners acquire the necessary skills for inter-disciplinary thinking, critical thinking, problem solving and resolving conflict. Most importantly, this develops leadership and change management skills to face the uncertainties of the emerging knowledge society.
GIIS follows Global Montessori Plus, CBSE and CBSE-i curriculum.
|
Pre Primary | Ages 3 to 6
In our Pre Primary, we specialize in providing an innovative Montessori environment designed for optimal physical, emotional, and intellectual development. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our world-class proprietary Global Montessori Plus programme.
GIIS’ Montessori education focuses on our students' formative years. Our innovative Montessori pedagogy is combined with cutting-edge teaching methods to provide young learners with opportunities to excel in their areas of interest. Our Global Montessori Plus (GMP) programme stands for a distinctive and well-designed nursery school curriculum.
Primary | Ages 6 to 11
GIIS offers two pathways for primary school children: the internationally recognised IB Primary Years Programme and Indian Central Board Curriculum for young learners.
The PYP is an inquiry-driven programme that fosters curiosity and independent thinking in students. The IB-certified teachers that we have are highly competent, passionate and creative in the way they facilitate the PYP. Students at GIIS have multiple second-language options to choose from, and we have a music, dance and visual arts curriculum embedded in our PYP.
CBSE for primary school students adopts a holistic approach to education allowing our young learners to focus on academics while simultaneously pursuing extracurricular interests, such as sports, music, arts, leadership skills and community involvement.
Secondary School | Ages 11-16
While the Indian Central Board Curriculum is offered for students from Grade 1 to 12, for the international curriculum option, we offer students the Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme for Grades 6 to 8 (ages 11 to 14), providing them with a clear pathway as they move on to the Cambridge IGCSE in Grades 9 and 10 (ages 14 to 16).
Both programmes encourage students to use their higher-order thinking skills, communication and collaboration skills that are mandatory for the 21st century.
High School | Ages 16-18
The Senior High school programme at GIIS Tokyo focuses on the cognitive, emotional and spiritual development of 16 to 18 years old students. We offer CBSE and IBDP curricula that encourage skills-based learning and self-reflection in a digital setting.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a two-year educational curriculum for CBSE and IGCSE Grade 10 graduates. The programme has received recognition from international universities across the globe.
Our well-versed faculty and cutting-edge modern facilities make GIIS the best international high school with the IB Diploma Programme. Our experienced teachers give the right direction, while our learning platforms provide the well researched material for 11th and 12th graders to thrive in IB through teamwork and creative thinking.
