Disgruntled parent alert….
This school denied Grade 1 admission to my 6 year old son of non Japanese descent, on the basis of a 30 minute assessment.
They said he lacked the necessary reading writing and math skills. He is 6 years old! They claim to base their curriculum on the Japanese system, yet turn away Grade 1 children because of math abilities? Surely they know there are no math standards for entry to Japanese Grade 1?
It appears they are much more interested in manufacturing their image, rather than serving the International community, as their name suggests.
We went to great lengths to set up in Makuhari, having found this school, genuinely not expecting for a second that they would do such a thing.
I have no problem with a school wanting to keep high standards, but turning away a normal international Grade 1 student is cruel and absurd.
I wonder how the principal would feel if his own two kids were denied entry to Grade 1?
Shame on them, other families be warned.
