The school supports gifted, able and talented students

A student’s first experience of Akademeia is through our Academic Potential Assessment, which is part of our admissions process. This process was created with the aim of uncovering the academic knowledge and talents held by each individual student. Through the assessment process, we can better understand how these talents may be developed, enriched, and employed in propelling students along the educational pathway to which they are most suited. Our entrance process was designed by us, based on our personal knowledge of and experience of the Oxbridge interview system, as well as A Level requirements and other assessment methods. All assessment meetings are conducted exclusively by our own teachers. We assess not only each student’s current knowledge, but also evaluate their academic potential and skills.
All students are accompanied on their educational journey by mentors, who support their learning, inspire and guide their individual pursuits, and advise on their academic choices and throughout the university application process.

Student access to education psychologist

We care deeply about our students’ wellbeing because we believe good emotional and psychological wellbeing is a key requirement for academic success and more importantly for a fulfilled and happy life. Our dedicated Wellbeing Team provides individual support to students, conducts group workshops as part of the curriculum, teaches students to develop self-help strategies to weather future storms and organizes webinars for parents.

Entry evaluation for students

Akademeia is an academically selective school with entry exams. Learn more: https://akademeia.edu.pl/en/admissions/admissions-2020-21/

Brief description of entry evaluation required

The recruitment process lasts for two days and is conducted over the course of a single weekend. Our recruitment (assessment) weekends include:
1. University lectures in English supplemented with tests to check the students’ abilities to learn and understand abstract content, analytical thinking, ability to draw conclusions, and ability to compare data.
2. English Language competence testing.
3. Mathematics test.
4. Individual meetings with subject teachers: we check not only a student’s knowledge but also, more importantly, their predisposition.
5. Group tasks, in which we check soft skills and social abilities.

This assessment process was created with the aim of uncovering the academic knowledge and talents held by each individual student. In doing so, we can better understand how these may be enriched, developed, and employed in propelling students along the educational pathway to which they are most suited. At its conclusion, the student and parents receive a full report that is discussed at an individual meeting with the Admissions team. The report is also a basis for our admission decision.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we conduct online recruitment weekends.

Akademeia High School is an international high school in Warsaw, offering A Levels and iGCSEs. Our school focuses on developing both students’ academic abilities and their artistic, athletic and leadership potential. All classes are conducted exclusively in English. Akademeia operates as a pre-university university.
We are an accredited UCAS centre, Cambridge International, Edexcel (Pearson) and AQA examination centre for the English GCE Advanced Levels which form the curriculum in the last two years. We have also prepared a special intensive SAT/ACT exam course for students who are interested in applying to American universities.

Teaching approach of the school

All our teachers are masters in their fields, with a wealth of qualifications from the world’s most prestigious universities. This intellectual bedrock is the foundation of our students' academic successes. Our students also benefit from the vast range of work-and-life experience garnered by our faculty through their years of working in the private sector. Our students therefore begin their studies with an accelerated maturity thanks to their time at Akademeia: we believe that a good university experience starts in school, which is why Akademeia looks, feels and operates like a university.
