Qualities and characteristics best defining the school |
Latin American Montessori Bilingual Public Charter School is the only Spanish-language immersion Montessori school in D.C. and one of just a handful of such schools in the U.S. LAMB educates PreK3 through 5th-grade students from all D.C. wards and backgrounds. |
Teaching approach of the school |
LAMB follows the Montessori model of mixing children who are close in age together in multi-age communities (classrooms). This structure lets students experience being part of the youngest, middle, and oldest groups in a community. Each of these experiences helps students grow. In addition to the Montessori curriculum, LAMB uses a dual English and Spanish language immersion model. LAMB's goal is that its students will be fluent in both languages by 5th grade. All of LAMB's communities, other than PreK3, receive classes in Spanish and in English while learning core academic subjects. |
