Interview, trial days

Before a child may be admitted, the parents are invited to an extensive interview with the principal.
Before starting kindergarten, children have three introductory sessions of about 2 hours each day (over three consecutive days). Elementary classes invite children to a trial week. After the introductory days or trial week, a joint decision (principal, responsible teachers and parents) on the admission will be taken.

The childcare hours during school days for all age groups from 7.30 am to 6.00 pm (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) and on Wednesday from 7.30 am to 12.00 noon are included in the school fee, provided the child is enrolled for full
days. During childcare hours, the children can play outside or participate in afternoon activities offered by the school.

Yes

The kitchen team serves a vegetarian menu daily, prepared with fresh, seasonal vegetables. They lovingly prepare delicious, varied, child-orientated meals. There is always an alternative menu for children with allergies or food intolerances.

Contemporary creative dance, woodwork, music ensemble, chess, piano, violin, cello, guitar, magician's workshop, film project, kung fu.

Physical education

Rietberg Montessori School is a state-accredited day school operating under the auspices of the Department of Education of Canton Zurich. The Montessori curriculum fully covers the curriculum requirements of Canton Zurich and guarantees transfer to secondary school.

The activities offered to the children in our Montessori classrooms are based on the needs of children and encourage self-motivated and joyful learning. The materials developed by Dr Montessori support the psychic and physical needs of children at every stage of their development. With the guidance of the teachers and within the framework of a carefully prepared classroom environment, the children lay the foundation for their life-long learning process.
The aim of the school is to help the children become independent, self-confident and self-reliant human beings with a strong community spirit.

At Rietberg Montessori School, there are three mixed age kindergarten groups of children from 3 to 6 years. Trained Montessori staff teaches the children. The tuition languages are German and English.
Elementary school is divided into mixed age groups (lower elementary 6- to 9-year old children and upper elementary 9- to 12-year-old children). The children of each group are taught and assisted by three trained teachers. The tuition languages are German and English.

English is an integral element in the school. In every class, there are both German-speaking and English-speaking teachers. From fourth grade onwards, a French teacher works with the class as well.
