The Grange’s Mandarin foreign language students won big the highly anticipated Chinese Language Festival 2022/2023, organised by the English Schools Foundation. This event was co-hosted by the Education University of Hong Kong and China International Education, participated by over 200 schools from 18 different countries.

25 Mandarin language students from The Grange stood out among the competition, receiving a total of 51 awards.

Among which, Aoba Toyokura (Kindergarten 1), Tsukino Ikura (Kindergarten 2), Emma Kuwako (Year 1), Phyo Nathar Cho (Year 2), Venba Saravanan (Year 3), Jaime Inigo Garces Luna (Year 4), Satvik Vankatesh (Year 5) and Ysabela Apostol Gonzales (Year 5) won champions in individual categories.

Ms Chen Lih Jiun, Mandarin Language teacher at The Grange took home two awards, emerging as Champion in the Teacher Capability category, and the Excellent Teacher Award.

The Teacher Capability Award was given to Ms. Chen after a panel of judges evaluated a submitted video and lesson plan. She was commended for her effective communication in Chinese and English, displaying commitment to inclusivity with students of diverse language backgrounds. Her clear and precise teaching philosophy demonstrated exceptional expertise in the subject.

The Excellent Teacher Award was given due to the outstanding number of awards her students have won.
