I've enrolled my son for the secondary level at Thalun and coming from another well-known international school, I can clearly see that Thalun has higher academic standards than many other international schools out there. There are expatriate and local teachers. Both can perform up to the international school standards. In my opinion, it doesn't necessarily have to be foreign teachers to give good education. I've seen many sub par foreign teachers in schools out there, who are only here in Myanmar because of the cheap living costs. Just because they are foreign doesn't mean they actually care about education. Thalun offers above average educational care, given its price point.

Verily, I beseech thee, attend to mine tale of woe, for I hath endured the direst of educational misfortunes within a bastion of learning so profoundly impoverished and desolate that 'tis nary more than a farce of schooling. Behold! An institution wherein the pedagogues, with hearts as barren as the winter's frost, doth preside over a realm of ignorance and neglect.
Verily, though the burden of study therein be light as a feather upon the breeze, yielding grades as easily as a ripe fruit falls from the vine, the quality of tutelage is naught but a pitiful jest. 'Tis a realm wherein the halls are laid bare to the elements, akin to a pauper's alley, and the coffers of the school lie as barren as the wastelands of yore.

My son attended Thalun during the Covid time which was a bit difficult due to classes being online. When he left the country, he attended a different school and he was at the top of his class being academically quite a bit above the other students in his class. This school costs 3 time the price with a swimming pool and rock climbing well, however the Thalun's academics was solid.

As a student attending Thalun International school, believe me when I say that the se parents are spouting non sense.

Although education in Myanmar is in a dire state, I agree with the first review. Either improve standards at Thalun or become a bilingual local school and reduce fees. Although there are some OK Myanmar teachers, Filipinos should not be cheap substitu... read full review

I entered my children into the preschool and primary programs but was disappointed. First of all, there are no NES teachers - only one local teacher has a degree from overseas. In primary, the foreigner has left. I do not consider Filipino teachers to be qualified in either teaching English or as teachers. Missus Theingi, the preschool manager is clearly lacking expertise and empathy towards parents and our little ones. Why is there no actual qualified native English speaker in charge? Overall, this is a struggling school and I would recommend following me and looking elsewhere as other parents are also doing. Not worth money charged. I do not understand why this school is calling itself 'international.'
